Lesson 6

Photo Story”

WHAT’S ON FOR TODAY AND WHY:

Today, students will be presenting their mid novel projects. They will show their Photostory to the rest of the class and explain why they chose the particular scene they chose. They will also be asked to explain their interpretation of Nico’s changing, and why they decided to insert the visuals and music that they have selected. The teacher will also ask them when they took their pictures, did they do it through the course of their reading/week or did they do it all in one day. By presenting their Photostories in class, students will be demonstrating the skills necessary for public speaking and presenting an interpretation.

WHAT TO DO:

This class period will be devoted to the students’ presentations. They will show their photo stories to the rest of the class and explain why they selected the particular scene. Students will also be asked to explain their interpretation of how this shows that Nico is undergoing change and why they chose the visuals and music that they chose.

For homework, students will be asked to read chapters twelve and thirteen. The teacher will also hand out a sticky note to each student. They will be asked to answer two of the following questions: What was your favorite part of the assignment and why? If you could change anything about the Photostory project what would it be and why? They will be informed that they do not have to put their names on these and that they are anonymous. They will be asked to stick the note on the door as they exit the classroom.

HOW DID IT GO?

Did the students fulfill the requirements on the assignment sheet? Did they demonstrate the interpretation and understanding of the passage that they chose? Were they creative, unique, and original in picking the passage, images, and sounds?
